Sealcoating has a lot of benefits that it provides, that why it’s used frequently in asphalt paving. More about Allentown, PA can be seen here.
When applied properly and at the right time, sealcoating benefits the pavement in many ways:
• Beautification – Fresh sealcoat brings a dark black color to the pavement, making it look presentable and new round the clock
• Slows oxidation and water penetration
When exposed to oxygen, it hardens asphalt binders and results in a brittle pavement surface that soon cracks. These cracks permit water to penetrate the sub-base, weakening it and reducing pavement strength. This could lead to more cracks, which can expand as time goes on and become potholes. Seal coats to fill surface voids. Click here to read about Tools needed for Paving.

• Resists gas and oil spills – Gasoline or oil leaking from an engine can soften asphalt. Because coal tars aren’t soluble in gas or oil, coal tar sealers prevent this damage.
• Resists ultraviolet rays
Ultraviolet rays from the sun break the links between carbon bonds within the asphalt. Sealcoat does not repair any damage that has already occurred to the asphalt, but it does prevent ultraviolet rays from further damaging the asphalt pavement.
• Easier to clean and maintain
Sealcoats make maintains and cleaning easy when used. The resulting smooth and even texture make maintenance on surfaces easier.
